Kal Penn
Kal Penn has come out of the closet in the most surprising of ways -- announcing he's gay in a new book of his, which reveals that he's actually getting married as well.
The actor shared the news through his forthcoming offering, "You Can't Be Serious," via excerpts that leaked over the weekend ... and which is due out this Tuesday. He makes no bones about it ... he's in a relationship with a guy named Josh, whom he's been dating for 11 years.
More importantly, they're on the road to matrimony ... because the couple is engaged. Apparently, Kal met Josh while he was living/working in D.C. under the Obama administration -- for which he worked in an official capacity -- and they've been together since.
GettyHe discusses his sexuality this way, "I've always been very public with everybody I've personally interacted with. Whether it's somebody that I meet at a bar, if Josh and I are out or we're talking to friends." He adds, "I'm really excited to share our relationship with readers. But Josh, my partner, my parents, and my brother, four people who I'm closest to in the family, are fairly quiet. They don't love attention and shy away from the limelight."
The guy is getting overwhelming support for finally sharing his truth -- one that's been kept as a secret for years now ... as no one really seems to have known Kal was gay.

Deon Cole That Chappelle vs. Gadsby Feud??? All I Can Say Is ... LMFAO!!!
10/29/2021 11:46 AM PTPlay video content ALL LAUGHS
Somewhere in Hollywood right now, Deon Cole is still laughing -- at least we think so, based on his reaction to a hot-button Dave Chappelle topic we threw out to him.
The comedian and "Black-ish" star was bolting from The Ivy Thursday afternoon in WeHo when we asked what he thought about Chappelle's (half-joking, we think) demand for Netflix employees to admit fellow comic Hannah Gadsby is not funny, before he agrees to meet with them.
Play video content DEFENDING DABABYAdmittedly, that could be a tough question for Deon, who's friends with Chappelle -- but tours a lot of comedy clubs too, and could run into Hannah from time to time.
Nevertheless, he responded, but you really gotta see how. This isn't just top-notch deflecting -- it's straight-up funny!!!
You'll recall ... Hannah fired the first shot at Dave, describing "The Closer" Netflix special as his "emotionally stunted partial world view."
Dave's rebuttal came during his show last week in Nashville, and while he was most likely joking about the Hannah demand ... the joke landed hard for Deon.

DaBaby just made his return to the Rolling Loud stage for the first time since he made homophobic remarks during the festival's Miami stop ... and it's all thanks to his buddy 50 Cent.
50 was on stage at Rolling Loud New York, and brought out DaBaby as a special guest ... we’re told Rolling Loud organizers approved DaBaby’s appearance.
Play video content 7/25/21 THE HOMOPHOBIC COMMENTSRolling Loud is a significant location for DaBaby's return considering it was during his festival set in Miami back in July when he told audience members to only put their hands up to party, "If you didn't show up today with HIV/AIDS or other STDs that'll make you die in 2-3 weeks" and "Fellas, if you didn't suck a n**** d*** in the parking lot."
He later attempted to apologize, but only made things worse when he said the comments weren't aimed at his actual fans because his fans aren't, "nasty gay n****s" or "junkies." He later deleted the apology.
Play video content dababy's explanationThe fallout for the rapper was massive ... he was dropped from multiple festivals and slammed by Dua Lipa, who he had a huge single with called "Levitating."
The rapper's comments were also the focus during a segment of Dave Chappelle's "The Closer" special on Netflix, where the comedian compared the outrage of DaBaby shooting and killing a man in a parking lot to the outrage from the LGBTQ+ community stemming from the RL comments.

Big Freedia Boosie Isn't Homophobic ... He Just Has Beef with Lil Nas X!!!
10/27/2021 12:18 PM PTPlay video content ISOLATED HATE
Boosie Badazz doesn't hate gay people, in general -- he just hates Lil Nas X, which is why he went on a disgusting tirade against the guy ... so says Big Freedia, who's defending the former.
We got the NOLA-based rapper at LAX, who gave her take on the whole controversy over Boosie calling LNX the homophobic f-slur, while also telling Nas to off himself. This is interesting ... not only does Freedia back Boosie, but she explains away his behavior.
Freedia's definitely not as up in arms over Boosie's language as others in the LGBT community. She seems to think he's only directing those words at Lil Nas, despite the fact they're offensive to all.
From her POV ... Boosie and Nas X are in an endless back-and-forth of online trolling, and have been for a while. That's actually how this whole thing started -- LNX jokingly said he had a song coming out with Boosie, and Boosie went into outrage mode and fired away.
However, despite his clearly homophobic words ... Freedia simply doesn't think Boosie actually has malice in his heart toward the gay community, and her evidence of that has to do with his feature film, "My Struggle."
Boosie stars as himself in the biopic, and Big Freedia says the movie has prison scenes where gays are portrayed and represented in a positive light.
That might suffice for Freedia ... but, clearly, others have differing opinions. Some feel Boosie straight up crossed the line with his tweet, which Twitter has since removed.

— Rap Alert (@rapalert4) October 23, 2021 @rapalert4The ultimate remedy might be an actual collab -- Nas X joked about one happening, but Freedia says for these 2 to truly bury the hatchet ... maybe they should really link.
We won't hold our breath.

Michael Myers Alleged Homophobe ... For Killing Gay Dudes in 'Halloween Kills'
10/27/2021 7:01 AM PT Alamy/Getty Composite
Psychopathic serial killer Michael Myers might have more issues than just his penchant for murder -- apparently, the internet is gravely concerned about his bigotry against gay people.
This is actually a thing ... the latest iteration of the masked madman is being accused by some Twitter truthers of being homophobic for offing a same-sex couple in the new "Halloween Kills" movie ... which just came out about a week or so ago.
Michael Myers is homophobic #HalloweenKills pic.twitter.com/dVeO4Hvqh5
— ECDD 512 (@isaelvalen) October 17, 2021 @isaelvalenGranted, some of these tweets were likely done in jest, but it's hard to tell who means what. Point is, people have written the words -- which is sorta outrageous in and of itself.
One person jokingly writes, "HALLOWEEN KILLS WAS SO GOOD BUT WHY DID MICHAEL HAVE TO KILL THE ONE GAY COUPLE... MICHAEL MYERS IS HOMOPHOBIC CONFIRMED."
If you haven't seen it yet ... there's a middle-aged gay couple depicted for a good portion of the flick who are now living in Myers' childhood home. He eventually breaks in and murks 'em both, in pretty brutal fashion too. In the end, MM lays their bodies next to each other.
While many appreciated the representation, others appear to have been offended by these two guys being among the body count. There've also been a few articles and op-eds written on the matter -- and despite most who acknowledge it as silly ... some are pointing out "The Shape" may, in fact, not be as progressive as some of his counterparts.

Many in the LGBT community praised the showrunners for including it in the storyline, and for Chucky showing empathy to it.
By that rationale, some feel Myers could be a little more open-minded as to whom he targets ... but frankly, he's an equal opportunity slasher, as proven in the movie itself.
Dude literally kills everyone in his path -- Black people, gay people, young and old ... and any gender. He even executes first-responders -- also seen in the film -- which is something that was also in debate of late, and addressed by the man behind the mask himself.

Delonte West repeatedly hurled homophobic slurs and said he was a better basketball player than LeBron James during his arrest last week ... and the disturbing scene was all captured on police video obtained by TMZ Sports.
West was stopped by cops in Boynton Beach, FL, on Oct. 19 ... after officers say he was yelling and banging on a local police station's doors.
Cops say he was holding two open containers of alcohol -- one beer, one vodka -- during the episode ... so they ordered him to the ground.
That's when officers turned on their body cameras -- and you can see in the footage, they needed to point a taser at the former NBA player while insisting he gets down to get him to comply.
When West finally dropped to the floor, officers told him they were detaining him for "open container and resisting" ... and the 38-year-old then went on a lengthy, rambling rant that included anti-gay rhetoric.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's OfficeWest repeatedly used the f-word, called cops bitches, and claimed he was Jesus Christ and the President of the United States.
In his rant, West also said, "N****, I was better than LeBron James. I'm better than Jordan. I was the best n**** to play every sport. Shut the f*** up!"
West continued to spout words off incoherently before cops finally put him into the back of a squad car.
In the police report, officers noted West reeked of booze and appeared to be drunk.
West was ultimately hit with three charges over the incident, including obstruction/resisting without violence, open container and disorderly intoxication.

Dave Chappelle Down for Transgender Discussion ... Lists Terms in New Stand-Up
10/25/2021 11:54 AM PT TMZ.com
Dave Chappelle has finally spoken for himself on his ongoing Netflix controversy -- saying he is, indeed, down to meet with members of the transgender community and hear 'em out ... but he has a few conditions.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
View this post on InstagramThe comedian was in Nashville over the weekend for a new show ... where a ton of his comic buddies opened for him, including Jeff Ross, Donnell Rawlings, Tom Segura and Joe Rogan. Eventually, Dave himself came out and addressed the elephant in the room.
TMZ.comAccording to eyewitnesses, he started his set with a "statement" to those he'd offended with "The Closer," jokingly pulling out a piece of paper and reading ... "F*** y'all, n****s!"
The jokes kept flying from there, with DC saying he was in so much trouble that he couldn't even get DaBaby on the phone. He asked the audience, what do you call a Black trans person in the U.S.?
TMZ.comThe response ... "A n***a!" Dave also joked his wife feared for his safety, and had bought him a handgun which had a pearl handle -- and he was worried that if he used it, someone's last words to him would be, "f****t!" So, he's hardly backing off any LGBTQ content.
On a more serious note, Dave said there'd been a lot of interest in his untitled documentary from film festivals -- which he recently screened at the Hollywood Bowl -- just as the swirling controversy over his new Netflix special, "The Closer" began. But now, he says he's being dropped from those same festivals. Dave shouted out Netflix for standing firm, and not taking down the special.
Play video content DEFENDING DABABYDave went on to note that if he's canceled, there's a ton of people who clearly believe otherwise ... pointing out the sold-out show at Bridgestone Arena. Then, he laid out his terms for meeting with Netflix employees from the LGBTQ community who've been protesting.
One, he says whoever talks to him has to watch the special from start to finish; two, it has to be a time and place of his choosing; and three, they must admit Hannah Gadsby isn't funny.
That last condition is a clap back at the Australian comedian who jabbed at Dave's comedy a couple weeks ago, and ripped into Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
DC also says even though film festivals are abandoning him ... he's going to air his documentary film in 10 cities across America.
He ended the show by loudly asking, "Am I canceled, or not?" Listen to the applause he got ... and it seems like he has a very clear answer.

UPDATEIt's his first real tweet addressing anything new on Saturday -- and considering this Boosie nonsense is the talk of Twitter right now ... it's pretty clear he's aware of what's going on. LNX is VERY online, so this wouldn't just go over his head ... especially since he's trending.
UPDATEAnd yet ... it doesn't appear to bother him much.
Lil Nas X jokingly said he had a new song coming out with Boosie Badazz -- but the latter didn't think it was funny ... and hurled every homophobic slur he could at the guy.
The Louisiana rapper unloaded on LNX Saturday with an expletive-laden diatribe that's shocking -- calling Nas X the f-slur, among other things ... while also telling the 'Montero' artist that he should kill himself.
Boosie writes, "STOP TROLLING ME F***** LOL 📷U A WHOLE BITCH PLAYING WITH A GANGSTA SMH U CAN KEEP SUCKING D*** N GETTIN F***** N YOUR ASS."
As if the horrendous homophobia wasn't enough, he continued ranting and telling Nas X to kill himself, claiming he'd be doing the world a favor if he did so.
Yeah, we know ... it's wild, and about as unhinged as we've ever seen Boosie on this topic.
Lil Nas X says he’s working on a song with Boosie. pic.twitter.com/ofahTBt7ao
— Rap Alert (@rapalert4) October 23, 2021 @rapalert4The hate speech comes on the heels of an IG video Nas X made, where he claimed he had a new collab coming out with Boosie ... obviously, a troll comment, as everyone knows Boosie would likely never agree to something like that ... based on his well-documented history.

Bill Maher Defending Chappelle Doesn't Make You Transphobic
10/23/2021 6:32 AM PT
Bill Maher unsurprisingly leaned in hard Friday night, defending Dave Chappelle, saying embracing Dave's latest Netflix special does not make someone transphobic.
The "Real Time" host was jawboning with Andrew Yang and NYT opinion writer John McWhorter, and on this one, all 3 were in lockstep ... all saying they support the LGBTQ community but also standing firm on Dave's right of commentary.
Maher's central point -- there is not one true opinion about anything, and he referenced the view of one of those outraged by Chappelle ... someone who said there are not two sides to this controversy.
Play video content 10/20/21 WALKING OUTMaher didn't mention Chappelle said he's open to having a conversation with members of the trans community to hear them out. The reality is this ... some people in the trans community are not only hurt by Chappelle's "The Closer" ... they believe it engenders hatred and even violence.
Yang chimed in with this ... it's a comedian's job to entertain and to make us think, but goes on to suggest no one believes the role of a comedian is to tell us what and how to think. Some members of the trans community, however, say whether a comedian tells people what to think or not ... they still have an influence.
The centerpiece of the discussion is about people on both sides feeling like there's only one side to any argument. McWhorter, who wrote the book, 'Woke Racism,' suggests this type of thinking has become a religion of intolerance. He also says believing in the notion of absolute right or wrong is simplistic, childlike thinking.
Maher ended with outrage over an NPR story that claimed Chappelle was using his "white privilege" to excuse his homophobia and transphobia.

10:48 AM PT -- 10/20 -- Harry Jowsey is doubling down in his apology to the LGBT community -- getting on camera to say sorry anew ... admitting that he screwed up with a word he shouldn't have uttered.
UPDATEHJ went on Instagram Live Wednesday to flesh out his written apology, explaining the homophobic slur he used -- the f-word -- is one that shouldn't even be in his vocabulary ... and something he shouldn't even have let out, especially toward someone he apparently considers a friend.
UPDATE Play video content WORKING ON MYSELF UPDATEIndeed, Harry says James Charles is actually a pal -- and notes he's mended fences with the guy privately. Still, he's wearing his heart on his sleeve here to let folks know it was lapse in judgment, and that he's deeply sorry and embarrassed over it.
UPDATEHe emphasizes that his use of the slur is NOT reflective of who he really is, or what he believes in -- as the guy clearly considers himself an ally of the LGBTQ+ crowd. He's also going to take some time to actively educate himself and try to do better going forward.
Reality star Harry Jowsey is under fire after a clip from his podcast calling James Charles a homophobic slur made it online, only to be deleted shortly after it was posted ... and Jowsey is already apologizing.
The former "Too Hot to Handle" star dropped a new episode of his popular 'Tap In' podcast Tuesday, and about 8 minutes in you can hear him talking to someone in the room about makeup guru James Charles ... claiming Charles is making advances on him.
Jowsey says, "James Charles is trying to f*** me ... the makeup artist. You don't know who he is? Just some f*****."
BackgridIt appears the comment was not supposed to make the podcast's final cut, and seemed to be more of a conversation between Jowsey and a member of his team. However, listeners were quick to grab the audio and post it online.
The original version of Jowsey's podcast was 40 minutes long, and it's now only 27 minutes ... so it appears an editor cut the James Charles comment as well as other segments of the episode out and re-uploaded the shorter version.
Harry tells us, "I'm deeply embarrassed that I used such an offensive term so casually in conversation. I spoke with James already privately and I look forward to using this as a learning experience and not forgetting the weight that my words carry. I also want to sincerely apologize to the entire LGBTQ+ community who I wholeheartedly support.”
Play video content PREVIOUS SUPPORTThe comment is somewhat surprising considering Jowsey recently said he was an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, saying trans women are women and sharing he had hooked up with Nikita Dragun.
As for Charles and Jowsey, it doesn't appear the two have any sort of solid friendship, though we have seen them at the same events.
James Charles has not yet commented on the audio.
